Just Q It One of three locations for this locally-owned franchise by Compton native and celebrity BBQ Pitmaster Kevin Bludso. Bludso is known for his BBQ competition appearances as both a contestant and as a judge. But he's not just any judge--he's also a James Beard award winner for his and Noah Galuten's cookbook, "Bludso's BBQ Cookbook: A Family Affair in Smoke and Soul." So, as a BBQ afficionado, visiting one of his restaurants was a no-brainer while visiting SoCal. The Good: *Yelp Waitlist *Private lot and street parking available *Our server, Alex, was sensational. Friendly, fast, and genuine. *Local brews on-tap *Brisket was one of the best we've had in forever. Juicy, smokey, and a nice peppery rub to accentuate the beef. *I rarely order chicken at a Q spot because nine times out of ten it's dry and sucks the moisture out of your mouth--but Bludso's was the one time of ten. The chicken was smokey, moist, and the skin was actually crispy. One of the best BBQ chicken I've ever had. Only mine is better. ;o) *Ribs were super solid. Had a nice bark and the well-seasoned and smokey meat had a really good chew to it. *Cornbread was a solid northern-style cakey style and was very, very good. Bread had a nice moisture and crumbled well in your mouth without being dry. *Mac & Cheese was almost perfect. Cheesy, rich and the pasta was cooked very well. My only quibble was it was very one-note and maybe some jalapeños could've livened it up a bit. The Meh: *Collards were a little undercooked and a bit overly salted for our liking, but they were still edible. The Ugly: *They got some strange striping in that parking lot. 0_o Conclusion: I would expect no less than BBQ perfection from one of my Q Idols, Chef BluBludso, and his restaurant delivered. Highly recommended.

Was craving BBQ & stopped by this place. Surprisingly very good! Service was fast and attentive. I wish they had dinner meals, however only serve lunch meals. For dinner everything is al carte. Does get a bit pricey ordering everything you like to try & would be better if there were dinner meal options. Perfect for small to medium parties! Brisket 10/10: juicy & perfectly cooked! We asked for the ends as well (was exactly in the menu) but they still were able to provide us with some just by asking! Corn bread 10/10: delicious! Pork 8/10: a bit dry, but great peppery flavor! Man n cheese 8.5/10: great tasting, wish there was a size bigger! Overall great food spot! Servers were attentive & knowledgeable about their food. Will have to stop by again!

I will say that I had low expectations going in but we were both pretty impressed at Bludso's. Alex gave us 5 star service. She was friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. I love the atmosphere of this place. All of the meats were perfectly cooked and even the chicken leg was fantastic. Super smoky flavor. We both loved the Mac and cheese which was cheesy and flavorful. The coleslaw was also tasty as well as the cornbread with honey butter. The only item that we didn't love was the collard greens. We felt like they should have been cooked for longer and I didn't like the flavor. It was unbalanced. But it was decent. I wish we could have tried the desserts but we were full. Highly recommend this place.

First time at this location so I was hoping it was as good as the one on La Brea, not only is it as good, but I would say it's better! Service was outstanding, fast, personable, and professional. If you are getting a large take out order, they will help you to your car in the convenient lot behind behind the restaurant (having a private parking lot is a nice bonus). Got the dinosaur rib which had the perfect balance of char, fat, tender beef, and seasoning. Cove of spicy or mild BBQ sauce which wasn't needed, but added a nice sweetness and smokiness. Also got half pound of BBQ pork ribs, equally tender and perfectly seasoned. Got half fatty and half lean brisket with great smoke ring, and a great choice if you can't decide between lean and fatty. Their chicken sausage was huge, moist, and the flavor and texture spot on. As for anyone who thinks they don't like chicken sausage, they need to try the one here. For sides get the greens and the coleslaw, the greens are well seasoned, tender, and cooked with beef, so all you may want to add is some hot sauce. The coleslaw is over of the best I've ever eaten, light, crisp and refreshing counterpoint to all the meat. The location is light and bright with large windows on a corner in Santa Monica that is easy to get to from the Westside.

Bludso's was fiiiiiiiire! Decided to come here after an event close by for Church and went into a DineLA special where we were given two meats (brisket and ribs) two sides (Mac & cheese and coleslaw) Cornbread, Banana Pudding, and Hush puppies for an appetizer all for $45. All of the food was so quality and tasty, and the drinks we ordered were strong, not skimpy, and very good for the price. Although it was later on and not many people were left, we never felt rushed. The ambiance was a classic BBQ spot with several TVs at the bar area which was very welcoming. Overall, Bludso's was a great experience and I will most definitely be back!
